Pilot Bio

Mark Trujillo resides in Corvallis, Oregon and is an airplane and hot air balloon pilot.  Mark received his fixed-wing airplane pilot's license in 1984 and added his instrument rating in 2004.  Mark received his hot air balloon license in 2008 and also holds a commercial rating in hot air balloons which he earned in 2010.  In 2012, Mark added an Advanced Ground Instructor rating, which allows him to give ground instruction for any certificate or rating (except for the Instrument Rating) required for a sport pilot, recreational pilot, or private pilot certificate.  Mark served as President of the Willamette Aerostat Society (WAS) for three years, and remains an active member of WAS.  Recently, Mark has become very active in the CIVIL AIR PATROL as a search and rescue mission pilot.  He earned his hot air balloon wings in 2014 and is currently in the process of adding a lighter than air component to the Oregon wing.  He became the Commander of the Salem Composite Squadron in 2015.  Mark and his wife Kris are proud owners of a Firefly hot air balloon, named iSOAR.  Kris plays a vital role on the iSOAR team, as she keeps Mark and the rest of the crew in line as the Crew Chief.  Mark and Kris continually welcome folks to join our crew as a way to share the beauty and joy related to the sport of hot air ballooning.  iSOAR has flown in many NW hot air balloon events, including the Tigard Festival of Balloons, Balloons Over Bend, Rogue Valley Hot Air Balloon Rally (Medford, Oregon), Madras Hot Air Balloon Rally, John Day Hot Air Balloon Rally, Walla Walla Balloon Stampede and the NW Art & Air Festival in Albany, Oregon.
